Fornemt besøg af den legendariske sangskriver Robert Forster, der udgjorde den ene halvdel af stilskabende The Go-Betweens, og som solo holder fanen højt på sit seneste mesterlige udspil ‘Songs to Play’. Præsenteres i samarbejde med Smash!Bang!Pow!

Musikken trækker referencer til bl.a. The Smiths, The Dream Syndicate og Felt.

Uncut skrev bl.a.:

»His modus operandi – white, suburban, left-of-centre indie-pop, still in thrall to the ’60s and ’70s – might not have changed all that much, but Songs To Play is nevertheless his strongest work for decades. It’s to Robert Forster’s credit that he hasn’t settled down into the persona of the older musician, like his hero Dylan, slowing both tempos and heart rates. Instead he’s returned revitalised, buoyed by young blood and new possibilities, reinvigorated by life, art and music. His hair’s now grey for real, yet he’s sounding more youthful than he has in years. Old age suits him.«.

In English
Robert Forster, best known for his work with songwriting partner Grant McLenna, with whom he co-founded The Go-Betweens, barely needs more introductions. The legendary Australian singer-songwriter has since the 90’s been famous for his solo career that with his latest release, critically acclaimed ‘Songs to Play’, took a new turn; »His modus operandi – white, suburban, left-of-centre indie-pop, still in thrall to the ’60s and ’70s – might not have changed all that much, but Songs To Play is nevertheless his strongest work for decades. – Uncut.

Swedish Peter Morén will also be performing this evening as supporting act. His latest critically acclaimed release, ‘40’, is filled with Swedish pop at its best and can be related to artists like Elvis Costello and Nick Lowes.
